I know the “decluttering and getting organized” is a bit of an overused New Year’s resolution, but I really mean it! I have been building up to truly making some big progress in this area, and I am actually feeling excited and energized about it. Having the clean slate of a new year does give me a boost. So yes – I do hereby resolve to get rid of clutter and get organized, and I do really expect to make significant strides in this direction!

Today I worked on the low-hanging fruit, so to speak. Basic cleaning and straightening, getting stuff put away, throwing out things that are easy to let go of and are in the way. The good thing about starting this way is that I get to feel a real sense of accomplishment, and the resulting clearer space gives me more energy to go even farther. So I’m counting today as a success.

While I have made this resolution and taken this kind of initial action before, I really do feel something different this time. I have been putting up with feeling pretty stuck for the past few months (at least) in a number of ways, and I want to move forward. I have so many resources and talents at my fingertips, and I have not been taking full advantage of them. I’m tired of just looking at all that I have to offer and not doing much with it. Getting my space clearer and more beautiful feels like an important part of expanding myself in other ways.

A related resolution is getting this website filled out and functional. I have been giving it a lot of thought, and have some pretty clear ideas of what I want to do – which for a long time, I didn’t have. I kept thinking there was a set of rules I had to follow that what I want to present doesn’t fit into, and I would just feel paralyzed. Once I decided to throw out those supposed rules and do what I want, I felt freer. And now I am ready to make it happen. I know it will take awhile, and that’s okay. Once I start, I will pick up momentum. And I will be asking for help and feedback from you, my friends!

Do you have old/new resolutions that you are feeling gung-ho about this year? We can support each other. Just by writing this out and sharing it, I know I have made myself more accountable and made these ideas more real. I am looking forward to sharing good news as things progress, and hearing about what other people are doing.
